Wine as a landscape

There are wines that are explained and there are wines that are listened to . Those from Envínate belong to the second family: they speak of volcanic soils , of slate, of Atlantic winds and of old vines that have withstood generations of oblivion.

Envínate is a project by four friends who are winemakers: Roberto Santana, Laura Ramos, José Martínez, and Alfonso Torrente . They met while studying oenology at the Miguel Hernández University of Alicante and decided to do something both simple and radical. They wanted to seek out forgotten terroirs , work them with respect, and let each plot speak for itself .

Each territory has its own story:

• Tenerife. In Taganan , centuries-old vines cling to the slopes of the Anaga massif, by the sea. In Benje , high above Santiago del Teide, Listán grows on volcanic soils and produces tense, saline, and smoky Atlantic wines .
• Ribeira Sacra. With Lousas , the Mencía grapes from terraced vineyards on slate become a fresh, delicate, and profoundly Galician wine.
• Almansa. Albahra rescues Garnacha Tintorera and almost lost native varieties, with a bright and Mediterranean interpretation.

The philosophy is one of minimal intervention : respectful viticulture , spontaneous fermentations, whole clusters, and little new oak. There’s no artifice, just a landscape within the glass .
